The intra-state vs inter-state conflict distinction is massive and rarely talked about. That stat showing 300+ internal conflicts versus single-digit interstate wars really puts the colonial border issue in perspective. I worked on a project looking at governance challenges in Lagos and kept running into this exact tension where ethnic boundries dont match political ones. The comparison to how Korea and India handled post-colonial partition makes it clear Africa lost more than just time.
